Canadian Immigration in 2019

Canada continued to maintain its immigration level targets for 2019 and more than 85,300 invitations to apply for Permanent Residence were issued through Express Entry. Although there were more than 24 draws in the year, the cut-off score to get selected remained relatively high. Provincial Nomination Programs also contributed greatly to candidates getting selected and because the provinces dictate what occupations are in demand they are able to fulfill their targets as necessary. More opportunities are provided through Provincial Nomination Programs and many streams have lower selection scores to allow candidates that may not otherwise qualify under the standard Express Entry programs to get selected for Permanent Residence. With the re-election of the Liberal Government, even as a minority government, we can expect the next few years to be consistent in terms of immigration policy. We wish everyone a Happy New Year!
