Alberta Rural Immigration Programs set to be implemented

Planning of two new Alberta immigration programs will start later this year to help rural communities attract and retain skilled workers. The two new programs will be identified as the Rural Renewal Program and Rural Entrepreneur Immigration Program respectively. Both programs are expected to intake a combined 40,000 applicants within the next four years. The Rural Renewal Program will be linked to the Federal Express Entry system for applicants to apply for Permanent Residence. The Rural Entrepreneur Immigration Program will be an investor focused pathway where the applicant would have to meet minimum investment and net worth criteria then work temporarily in Alberta on a Work Permit first to implement their business startups. This is very exciting news for smaller communities in Alberta and for other provinces to follow and attract talented Skilled Workers and Investors.
